We celebrated ‘Indigenous Literacy Day’, a day celebrating indigenous culture, stories, songs, language and literacy.
Children participated in an art experience interacting with indigenous symbols, books and aboriginal flag colours. The children explored in their own way taking inspiration off the books and symbols.
Aunty Virginia came for group time and sang us the bindarray song and taught our group some animal names in gumbaynggirr.
This beautiful song that Aunty Virginia sang describes the bindarray (river) meeting the gaagal (ocean), which is meaningful to our preschool and community.
We had a lovely day immersed in indigenous culture and being inspired by art and stories.
